The BWF seeks to simultaneously increase women’s representation in the boards of directors public and semi public institutions, like PIPA, PMA and PMC. And to give women owned businesses additional preferential points when applying to governmental and international organizations tenders. The BWF held a brainstorming session for its members prior to its Corporate Ambassadors event in July 2008 to discuss the importance of advocating on these issues and prepare to formally announce them at the Corporate Ambassadors event. The session was led by Ms. Lubnah Katbah of the Equity Legal Group, who has partnered with the BWF on this campaign. The BWF formally launched their advocacy campaign at their Corporate Ambassadors event in July, with several panels and workshops dedicated to the topic. Participants learned about the importance of engaging the business sector in social change and about the importance of the positive orientation of activities intended to make change, and building necessary alliances to lobby decision makers. The campaign will intensify and continue in the 2008-2009 program year.
