The CNFCE is committed to women’s micro-enterprises as a way to empower women to participate in economic life. The CNFCE will be advocates on behalf of Tunisian businesswomen in the handicrafts sector to (1) identify the hindrances to handicraft businesswomen that inhibit them from entering into the national and international markets; (2) enact legal incentives to encourage them to enter into the national and international markets; and (3) develop a communications campaign to sensitize handicraft businesswomen on these legal incentives and encourage them to enter into the national and international markets. A part of this communications campaign is holding local and overseas fairs, which are events that the CNFCE organizes. The Tunisian handicrafts fair was held in July 2008 and in November 2008 the CNFCE participated in the Berlin Trade Fair and brought 7 CNFCE members to show their wares. Finally, CNFCE launched its Artisan Woman of Year program, which will be awarded on January 15th, 2009.
