Business laws in Lebanon are non-discriminatory, however, in reality; it is obvious that there is a general ignorance and malpractice in this respect. Awareness among women of their rights on the above is low. In practice, implementation is sometimes biased. There is a need to change the perception of employers on the balance between women's rights, and their responsibilities / performance and to educate young women, men and employers in urban, peri-urban and rural areas on the legal rights of women in the workplace.
To achieve their advocacy objectives, the LLWB submitted the proposal for the project entitled "Women Empowerment and Advocacy for Equal Rights & the Right to Choose” in which the LLWB is the lead organization along with 4 other organizations from 4 Arab countries (Morocco, Yemen, Kuwait, and Egypt). The idea is to raise awareness among working women about their rights and the laws that apply to them in the workplace. This project would be financed by MEPI and monitored by Beyster Institute. In addition, the LLWB published an editorial in a major Lebanese magazine on the state of women in the workforce in Lebanon.
