Tell us a little about your personal and professional background

I am Dr. Nawal S. Al Alem, born in Beirut Lebanon and married to Dr. Mohammed Chaarani, a leading orthopedic surgeon in Hamad Hospital.

I am a dermatologist currently in private practice in Dr. Nawal Skin Clinic, one of the sub-companies of Health & Beauty Group which I own and manage. Other subsidiaries of Health & Beauty Group are Health & Beauty Pharmacy, Ideal Diet, Spa and Diet, and Doha International School and Kindergarten.

Health & Beauty Group is a well established company which offers a wide range of health-related products, including cosmetics, organic and diet foods, and services, including treatment, maintenance, and preventive measures for people of all ages. I will soon launch my book and am pursuing other projects.

What got me interested in what I am doing right now is my dedication to society to contribute to the achievement of overall economic development.

How did you found out about your Network Hub (Qatari Businesswomen Forum)—why did you join?

I found out about the network hub through a lady from a company in Dubai when they approached my company to establish some work together.

The people in QBWF are very active and professional in their work. Once I contacted them they gave me a warm welcome and they were very convincing. I joined Qatari Businesswomen Forum to empower my leadership and business development skills through participation in different forums globally, to mingle, interact and improve inter-relationships with high profile individuals and eventually create contacts for the future. Lastly, I want to share with my fellow women and with the world, my knowledge, abilities and experiences as a successful woman, as a mother and a business owner.

What programs have you participated in? How has your business benefited from membership in the Network Hub?

Here are some of the conferences I have attended:

Corporate Ambassadors Program, SMEs: Engines for Economic Growth, February 10- 11, 2009
Middle East Families Business Conference, May 11-12, 2009
Third Qatar Economic Forum, June 1, 2009

Having won the 2008 Qatar Businesswomen Award, in the Business Owners category, I have gained popularity and respect of co-businesswomen owners. I was also set as an example and role model for businesswomen beginners. Through participating in different forums, QBWF has enhanced my decision-making process, exposed me into new ideas in effectively marketing our products and services benefiting Health & Beauty Group, therefore increasing our profit growth. Furthermore, QBWF has exposed me also to the world of investing which will pave my way to explore new heights in business.

How do you see your business growing in the future, and how can your Network Hub help you?

I can see in the near future that my new Health, Beauty and Diet Medical center will soon be opening. It will be equipped with the latest equipments and state of the art facilities with excellent specialists and experts in different fields including dermatology, nutrition, gynecology, orthopedics, dentistry and others. Together with it will be my new branch of Health and Beauty Pharmacy and Ideal Diet Shop. The new lecture hall in the new medical center will be very useful in providing lectures and different health programs. Further enhancements to my website will make it more informative to help combat diseases, and aid individuals in boosting their well-being.

Through QBWF’s support and aid in expanding networks, generalized research, consultancy, training and technical service I believe I can achieve success in every endeavor despite the worldwide economic crisis.
