The MENA BWN Businesswomen of the Year Award will recognize outstanding women who have a real chance to shape the future of the MENA business landscape both directly - in their respective fields of endeavor and indirectly - as role models for aspirant businesswomen. This unique award will be the first in the MENA region to recognize emerging and promising businesswomen with real business potential coupled with a commitment to their communities. Unlike other awards, this award will focus on the spirit of enterprise and is open to both entrepreneurs and women in business.
The objectives of the award are
To recognize the success of emerging women leaders in business, thereby creating a cadre of female role models whose achievements will inspire other women to raise their sights and reach their goals.
To create a mechanism for applauding and celebrating women’s contribution to the MENA regional economy.
To raise the profile of the MENA BWN and its member organizations both regionally and globally.
The award will take an inclusive approach by dividing the award into two categories, namely Corporate and Entrepreneurial, given the participation of women in both sectors in the MENA BWN. The award will also take a regional approach by awarding two outstanding emerging businesswomen leaders overall (one from each category) and recognizing two finalists from each region (North Africa, Levant, and the Gulf). Finally, the award will focus on emerging businesswomen leaders, young businesswomen or those who have newly entered the business field, and serve as their platform to aspire to future success.
The MENA BWN Businesswomen of the Year Award will be launched next year. Nominations and applications would be solicited according to a time frame determined by each Hub. National awardees would be selected by each Hub’s award committee according to the criteria outlined below. National Awards would be presented at each Hub’s National Awards Ceremony, ideally happening on the same day as all of the other Hubs’ ceremonies. Each country’s national awardees will then be nominated for regional recognition. Nominations for the Regional Award will be considered by a jury of internationally respected figures from the worlds of finance, the media and business. Regional Awards would be presented at the MENA Businesswomen’s Network Conference at a date to be determined.
