"Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between BZU and the Business Women Forum"

Represented by the Vice-President for Community Affairs, Dr. Munir Qazzaz, BZU signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Business Women Forum, represented by the Board Director, Amal Daraghmeh al-Masri, on 22 February 2010 a memorandum of understanding to work on planning and developing joint training programs. The MoU aims at training and enhancing the capacities of business women and BZU students in various fields related to the business world, particularly the ones based on modern information technology.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Director of Najjad Zeenni Information Technology Center of Excellence (NZITCE) at BZU, Mr. Ibrahim Abu Qtaish, Director of Public Relations at BZU. Manal Issa, and Executive Director of the Business Women Forum, Dua'a Wadi. The MoU aimed at building an efficient training cadre capable of responding to the training needs of businesswomen and cooperating in planning for joint initiatives and projects that create young women leaders, capable of establishing and managing small and micro businesses that support the Palestinian economy, in addition to cooperating in information exchange, transfer of experiences and dissemination of successful experiences related to women's work and its employment in the preparation and implementation of future joint projects.

Dr. Qazzaz asserted that BZU and through the work of NZITCE is eager to upgrade their facilities and attract qualified personnel to be a renowned seat of knowledge for its students, and is also working on developing the skills, as well as the financial, managerial and marketing expertise, of the owners of entrepreneurial ideas, in order to promote their chances of success in the establishment and management of economic projects and to ensure its sustainability.

Mr. Abu Qutaish explained that the work of NZITCE aims to establish solid partnership and with local and international institutions in the field of information technology and communication to develop IT industry in Palestine, and create a spirit of pioneering and innovation among students and other members of the community, and work to maintain and foster ideas and pilot projects, in addition to creating, developing and implementing training programs in the field of information technology aiming at the rehabilitating national cadres able to meet the needs of the Palestinian market with respect to human resources with practical experience in the field of technology information.

Mrs. al-Masri pointed to the role of the Forum in promoting Palestinian economy and community development through investment in women businesses, enhancing the capacities of the Palestinian Business Women and strengthening of individual entrepreneurial skills. She added that the Forum focuses on creating a suitable environment for women to increase their contribution and involvement in the financial and business sector, and other activities, in order to achieve sustainable economic growth in the global transformation, which in turn imposes significant challenges on women.
