" Bahrain emerges as diversified financial center"

Tuesday, Bahraini Finance Minister Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Kalifa gave a speech highlighting the country’s highly diversified financial sector. In particular, Sheikh Ahmed emphasized Bahrain’s ability to host both conventional and Islamic firms while becoming one of the world’s primary locations for Islamic finance. He also commended the growth of the Bahraini financial services sector which posted an 18 percent growth in 2009 due to new regulations by the Central Bank of Bahrain. The speech was delivered at the Bahrain/ Bermuda Seminar on “Global Financial and Insurance Services” which, more broadly, underscored the similarities between the two countries’ economies.
