Sunday, in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, women celebrate the nomination of two representatives, Hana Al-Zuhair and Samira Al-Suwaigh, to the Chamber of Commerce. This appointment marks the first time women will serve on the Eastern Province’s board, an 18-member board that will soon elect a president through consensus or internal ballot. Al-Zuhair and Al-Suwaigh are widely respected in the province by businesswomen and men alike. Al-Zuhair previously worked at the Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Fund with as the executive manager for Small Business Projects for Women. Al-Suwaigh is a dedicated businesswoman and advocate for businesswomen in the region who has helped Al-Moaibed Group meet tremendous success. Both women look to use their appointments to empower women economically and in decision-making in order to promote women’s development in the province.
