Multinational corporations (MNCs), more and more, are using emerging markets to fuel future growth; and many are placing women at the forefront. The Center for Work-Life Policy is undertaking a new study on Women in Emerging Markets (including BRIC countries and the UAE) and is finding that highly qualified women are pertinent potential candidates. With over half of the world’s tertiary degrees, women are not only well-educated, but have high aspirations for top positions in business. In the Emirates, women prove more ambitious than their American counterparts and equal to their male competitors. Yet, they still face impediments to success, including extreme work environments due to time zone differences and cultural pressures from within their own society and families. Nonetheless, MNCs are still aiming to tap into this new talent source, potentially leveraging women in business and society.
