"Ahlam Janahi: women don’t need to be tested for their success potentials "

Businesswoman Ahlam Janahi said that women in Bahrain don’t need more tests to prove their potentials and capabilities to deal with challenges and obstacles. She said that women have successfully passed all tests and prove their real skills.”

She stressed that women have succeeded as Minister, ambassador, judge and parliamentarian, so there is no need to challenge their potentials.

She highlighted that during a seminar held at the Bahrain Businesswomen Society to mark the upcoming election of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI). The seminar hosted also Head of the Election Panel, Yousif Al Salah and the Economic Bloc candidates Afnan Al Zayani and Salwa Al Moayyed.

Al Salah gave a brief about the history of the BCCI as well as the election’s rules and regulations and preparation of the election that would be held on November 16. He said that women could influence election as there are 1273 BCCI’s members out of 6276 members. He said that the election comes in special situations; mainly it will coincide with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the BCCI and growth in the participation of small and medium organisations in addition to the launching of the economic vision 2030.

Al Zayani was optimistic of the chances of women to make it to the board of the BCCI, while highlighting the approval of the quota system by the general assembly in its last meeting. She said that it was very encouraging that the general assembly acknowledges the role of women. She called upon female members to participate through contesting or voting in the election.

Al Moayyed supported Janahi about the achievements of women and said that women proved their potentials in the private sector as business owners and board members.

The membership of women in the BCCI increased to about 18.70% according to last statistics, while CRs owned by women increased to 38.3%
